Cherry Cheuk Lam Cheung, MSc, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Indiana University School of Medicine specializing in Pulmonary Immunology and Airway Inflammation. With a strong background in Biomedical Sciences, Cherry engages in advanced research methodologies, including cell culture and gene sequencing. Involved in promoting diversity and inclusion within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Cherry also participates in civic engagement through social media as a Communication Team Volunteer for Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally and serves as a Bio-protocol Ambassador. Prior experience includes brand management roles at Unilever, contributing to product development and marketing strategies. Engineers & Scientists Acting Locally (ESAL) is a national 501(c)3 organization committed to increasing civic participation among people with backgrounds in STEM. Founded by engineers and scientists experienced in public policy, ESAL serves as a platform for bridging technical expertise with community needs. Operating as a non-partisan and non-advocacy group, we facilitate informed dialogue, encourage innovative problem-solving, and support the integration of scientific insights into local decision-making processes. Our goal is to build a robust network of STEM experts who are dedicated to driving positive change within their communities.
