Drug Discovery Scientist III at Engitix Therapeutics

Omar Alkhatib, Ph.D. has a broad range of work experience. From 2011-2013, they served as a Teacher's Assistant and Events and Activities Coordinator at Saudi Aramco, where they assisted in delivering English classes and mentoring Arabic-speaking elementary school children. Omar also took a leading role in organizing sports activities and school plays, as well as serving as a translator and liaison between parents and teachers. From 2013-2016, they worked as a Research Assistant Industrial Placement at Schlumberger, analyzing the composition of crude oil samples from different geographical locations. From 2016-2019, they worked at AstraZeneca as a Biochemical Assay Development Industrial Placement, designing, developing and optimizing a kinetic probe competition assay on the PHERAstar FS. Omar then worked at Artios Pharma Ltd from 2019-2020 as a Scientist, building crucial mechanism of action studies for the company's lead oncology project. In 2020, they worked at AstraZeneca as a Research Scientist - Mechanistic Biology and Profiling, leading, organizing and developing a strong business case for the purchase of new compound screening technology. From 2021-2022, they worked at LabGenius as an HTS Senior Scientist (Scientist III) and HTS Scientist II, developing preclinical HTS antibody profiling assays for several projects. Omar is currently working at Engitix Therapeutics as a Drug Discovery Scientist III.

Omar Alkhatib, Ph.D. began their educational journey in 2011 when they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology) with Management from The University of Edinburgh. Omar then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Drug Discovery Skills from King's College London in 2015-2016. In 2016-2020, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience from King's College London. In 2021, they obtained a Certificate in Strategic Management: Competitive Advantage from Wharton Online. Finally, they are currently enrolled in a Master of Business Administration program at Quantic School of Business and Technology, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Additionally, they hold an Alumni Volunteer certification from King's College London Alumni (obtained in 2022) and an ASPA 1986 Personal Licence from the UK Home Office (obtained in 2015).
