Don Vinson

England Age Group Head Coach - Girls U16 at England and Great Britain Hockey

Don Vinson has a diverse work experience in sports coaching, research, and education. Don started their career as a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Central Lancashire in 2001. Don then served as a Senior Lecturer in Sport Development and Coaching at Liverpool John Moores University from 2004 to 2008. During this time, they also worked as the Head Coach of Sutton Coldfield Ladies Hockey Club. From 2008 to 2014, Vinson was a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching at the University of Gloucestershire, where they conducted research on sports pedagogy and performance analysis. Don joined the University of Worcester in 2014 as a Principal Lecturer in Sports Coaching Science and took on additional responsibilities as a Programme Leader. Since 2015, they have been associated with England and Great Britain Hockey, working as an England Age Group Head Coach, Coach Educator, and National Age Group Assistant Coach for girls under 16. Overall, Vinson's experience spans coaching, education, and research in various sports-related roles.

Don Vinson completed their education in a sequential manner. From 1998 to 2001, they attended the University of Hull, where they pursued a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, and Maths, with a focus on Physical Education Teaching and Coaching. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Central Lancashire from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. The specific field of study for their PhD was Service Quality in Physical Activity Referral Schemes.
