Louise Abbott

Louise Abbott (Writing/AELAQ) is a writer, photographer, and documentary filmmaker based in the Eastern Townships. She has dedicated her career to exploring the culture, heritage, and natural environment of often overlooked communities in outlying areas of Canada as well as the social and environmental challenges facing these communities. She is the author of The Coast Way, The French Shore, The Heart of the Farm, Eeyou Istchee: Land of the Cree, and Memphremagog: An Illustrated History (volumes 1 and 2). She has directed and produced numerous documentaries, including, most recently, The Sugarmakers, which was televised by PBS in February 2022, and CRUX: The Transformation of AnneBruce Falconer, which was screened at the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) in Montreal in March 2022. Louise is a founding member of Studio Georgeville and established a literary press for the gallery in 2019. She has overseen the production of three books by Townships writers since then. She is pleased to represent the Association of English-Language Publishers of Quebec (AELAQ) on the board of ELAN.
