Liz Sundermann-Zinger

Chief, Central Library & State Library Resource Center at Enoch Pratt Free Library

Liz Sundermann-Zinger joined the Pratt Library in February 2022 as Chief of the Central Library and State Library Resource Center. In this capacity, she leads the Central Library, which serves as the State Library Resource Center and includes public service departments and services such as MILO, Digital Maryland, and statewide library worker training.

Liz brings a plethora of experience in library work to this role, including previous positions in the Southeast Anchor Library, as the Assistant Manager of the Fiction Department, and as the Teen Services Coordinator at the Pratt. Prior to this role, Liz was the Digital Equity and Virtual Services Manager at Baltimore County Public Library, and was previously the Data, Communications and Services Coordinator and the Youth Services Coordinator at the Maryland State Library.

Through these positions, Liz has run many successful statewide programs, including a program which distributed 10-20 youth services laptops to every library system in the state. Her team at BCPL successfully transitioned the library to 100% virtual services during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and created and streamlined many staff and public-facing services.

Under her leadership, the Central Library and State Library Resource Center are working to ensure that the Central Library becomes a post-pandemic destination for the people of Baltimore to learn, relax, imagine, socialize, and gain essential skills. They are also ensuring that the Library’s services and statewide training opportunities meet the needs and exceed the expectations of statewide library workers and other customers.

In her own words, Liz is motivated by the people of the Pratt, noting that both staff and customers share a love of the library system that is unparalleled, and it shows in personal and professional interactions daily. Not only do Pratt Library staff help many people with their personal and professional needs every day, they do it with passion.
