Dong Zhang serves as a Professor at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, New York Institute of Technology since July 2014 and concurrently holds the position of Director at the NYIT-Center for Cancer Research. Research interests include DNA damage response, DNA repair, telomere biology, and synthetic lethality for cancer therapy. Dong Zhang has also founded ALT Diagnostics and Therapeutics, serving as its CEO, and has been a fellow at ELabNYC, where efforts focus on equipping researchers with business skills. Additional roles include Visiting Associate Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Faculty Advisor for First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 and ScholarRx, and former Assistant Professor at Sanford School of Medicine. Previous industry experience includes a Staff Scientist role at Wyeth Oncology and Pfizer Oncology, focusing on cancer stem cell research and target identification. Educational background includes postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine, and a Ph.D. from Brandeis University.
