Susan Tapley

Director, Operations at EnviroLogix

Susan Tapley is the Director of Operations at EnviroLogix located in Portland, Maine. This Maine-based company is the global leader in the development of rapid GMO and mycotoxin technology supporting the worldwide food production chain. In her current role, Susan is responsible for the coordination and control of production activities at EnviroLogix, which includes managing resources, and developing and implementing an operational plan to support the company’s strategy and goals. Susan has been with EnviroLogix for almost ten years, starting as an entry level molecular scientist and then moving into a Manager and Director role within the Product Development department. Recently, she has chosen to utilize her broad product and technical expertise, as well as her strength in building teams to expand her business breadth to a role within Operations.

Prior to joining EnviroLogix, Susan worked as a scientist for a small aquatic life science biotech company, MariCal Inc, located in Portland, Maine. She then moved into the pharmaceutical industry for the next 5 years. During that time, she researched Type II Diabetes at Pfizer’s Groton, CT location in their cardiovascular and metabolic diseases group. Born and raised in Maine, she and her husband subsequently decided to move back to be closer to their family.

Susan is a dedicated and innovative scientist who has extensive laboratory, management, project management and operations experience across several industries. She is a resourceful leader who has demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects from concept through commercialization, brining high quality diagnostics to market, developing strong and high functioning teams and facilitating cross functional teams to ensure clear and concise alignment across an organization.

Susan earned her BS in Biology and BA in Chemistry from Roger Williams University, and her Master’s in Biology from the Brown University. She is passionate about building inclusive teams and co-founded the Women’s Impact Network at EnviroLogix. This employee business group is active in the community and is focused on empowering women in the workplace to advance their careers and increase their awareness of gender bias.
