Senior Vice President and Chief Demographer

Doug Norris, Ph.D., is a nationally renowned expert on the Canadian Census and demographic trends with over 40 years of experience in social statistics. Currently, they serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Demographer at Environics Analytics, a position they have held since 2006 after nearly 30 years at Statistics Canada, where they were known as “Mr. Census” and held the title of Director General of Social and Demographic Statistics. Dr. Norris assists various organizations in utilizing census data for planning and marketing, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Alberta, actively participating in steering committees on social data. They hold a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from McGill University, along with a Ph.D. in biostatistics and demography from Johns Hopkins University, and have received multiple lifetime achievement awards for their significant contributions to Canadian demography.
