Tanea Hawkins has over 25 years of work experience in various finance and management roles. Tanea is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Environment Southland since November 2021. In this role, they have successfully delivered a comprehensive 10-year strategic plan and developed a new financial strategy and long-term planning tool.

Prior to this, Tanea worked as the Finance Manager at Environment Southland from November 2017 to November 2021, where they were responsible for all financial functions and building professional relationships. Tanea played a key role in developing a new Financial Strategy and actively participated in the Corporate/Finance SIG at a national level.

Tanea's previous experience includes working as the General Manager at Hawkins Contracting 2011 Ltd from 1996. In this role, they managed and owned companies contracted to Invercargill City Council and Southland District Council. Tanea focused on reliability engineering, logistics, and quality delivery, which led to repeated contract wins over national organizations.

From 2014 to 2017, Tanea served as the Finance Manager at Sport Southland. Tanea was responsible for all financial aspects, cash management, and investment. Tanea also built strong relationships with external partners and improved the financial reports of the trust.

From 2011 to 2014, Tanea worked as the Financial Controller at Go Bus South. Tanea served as a trusted financial advisor to a family-owned group of companies with multiple depots. Tanea successfully completed a merger, acquisitions, and sale program and returned the merged company to profitability.

Tanea Hawkins has completed a Leadership Programme at the Yale School of Management in 2021. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a focus on Accounting and Finance from the University of Otago. Tanea also pursued a Post Graduate Course in Capital Markets at NZX. Additionally, they have studied Accounting and Finance at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
