Laura Burke

Laura Burke is an accomplished leader in the environmental and engineering sectors, currently serving as the Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland since November 2011, overseeing a workforce of over 500 staff and managing a budget of €80 million in 2024. Burke also holds the position of President at Engineers Ireland, representing a community of 25,000 engineering professionals. Previously, Burke was the Chairperson of the European Environment Agency from September 2017 to September 2023, where significant contributions were made to environmental policy development and data reporting. Burke's extensive experience includes roles as Director at the EPA Ireland and Project Manager at Indaver Ireland. Educationally, Burke holds a BE in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin, a Master's in Management Practice from Trinity College Dublin, and additional qualifications in board dynamics and directorship from renowned institutes.
