Michael Allan

Michael Allan serves as the Principal Advisor for the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme at the Environmental Protection Authority NZ, providing strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the scheme's effectiveness and integrity. With a background as a Principal Solicitor, Senior Solicitor, and Solicitor within the EPA's legal team, Michael has extensive experience in managing legal risks associated with the organization’s statutory functions. Additionally, Michael has offered technical advice on oil and gas exploration and seabed mineral applications in New Zealand's Exclusive Economic Zone and served as a Tax Consultant at KPMG New Zealand, where expertise was provided on various tax issues. Michael began legal training as a Legal Research Assistant at the University of Otago, assisting with research on Maori ownership rights to freshwater. Michael holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law and Geography from the University of Otago.
