Monica Amarelo is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in media strategy and public relations. Currently serving as Vice President of Media Relations at the Environmental Working Group since January 2015, Monica leads initiatives related to consumer advocacy, legislative efforts in California, and children's health, while also addressing contaminants in tap water. Previously, Monica held the role of Director of Communications at MAACOMM and served as Principal at the Federation of American Scientists. Monica’s background also includes a position as Director of Communications at AAAS and as Senior Communications Officer, contributing to a robust career in public communication. Monica earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Newspaper Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University.
