Stefan Payer

Stefan Payer is a highly experienced professional in the field of chemistry and biocatalysis, currently serving as the CEO and Co-Founder of Enzyan Biocatalysis GmbH since March 2022. Prior to this role, Stefan Payer was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, where the focus was on the development of 2-oxoglutarate-dependent biocatalysts for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and natural products from October 2021 to August 2022. Earlier experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in bio-inspired total synthesis of alkaloid natural products from January 2020 to July 2021. Stefan Payer holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry from the University of Graz, as well as Master of Science (MS) degrees in Chemistry from Technische Universität Graz and the University of Utah through an International Student Exchange Program.
