Waander L. van Heerde

Waander L. van Heerde has an extensive work experience in various scientific and management roles. Waander L. started their career at Utrechtse Scheikundige Studentenvereniging Proton as a Member of the Board in 1987. Waander L. then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at INSERM from 1994 to 1997, where they focused on the molecular approach to studying the role of endogenous annexing A5 in coagulation.

Following that, they joined Maastricht University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 1997 to 2000, where their research revolved around the role of endogenous annexing A5 in apoptosis-mediated coagulation. During this time, they were also supported by the E. Dekker post-doc stipendium of the Netherlands Heart Foundation.

In 2000, they joined Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre as a Biochemist and Coagulation Physiologist. Waander L. served as the Head of Diagnostic and Research Thrombosis Hemostasis Unit and Director of CRO (CRONijmegen). Waander L. was also a team member of the Hemophilia Care Center management team Radboudumc. Waander L. held this position until 2017.

In 2009, they became the Chief Scientific Officer at HaemoMagum BV and held that role until 2013. Afterwards, they joined Enzyre B.V. in 2017 as the Chief Scientific Officer.

In addition to their scientific roles, they have also served as the Chairman of R.K.H.V. Union (field hockey) from 2013 to 2018, and as a Member of the Board at Lawn Tennis Club Gulpen from 1998 to 2000.

Waander L. van Heerde obtained their Master of Science (MSc) degree in (Bio)chemistry from Utrecht University in the period of 1986-1990. Following this, they pursued a PhD in the field of Biochemistry of Thrombosis and Hemostasis at the same university from 1990-1994. Later on, in 2014-2015, they completed an Executive Master of Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Health at Utrecht University.
