In Situ Ocean Surface Currents, Anytime, In Every Ocean. "Why install sensors aboard, when the ship itself can be the sensor" Discover the ocean's hidden details - without ever leaving port! At eOdyn, we're pioneering digital solutions for remotely monitoring ocean dynamics in stunning detail. Using machine learning and massive datasets, we transform streams of information into discoveries. For example, our innovative processing of Automatic Identification System (AIS) data from ships at sea allows us to derive high-resolution surface current maps. By analyzing AIS-based ship velocities, we filter out the component due to ocean flow - revealing circulation features never before observable. This "virtual drifter" approach requires no additional in situ measurements, providing a purely digital solution. And we're just getting started. New AI techniques trained on AIS data help to detect anomalous flows, map fronts and eddies, and monitor current variability. Fusing additional datasets, from satellite altimetry to radar waves, will yield insights on air-sea fluxes, mixing and transport. At eOdyn, our experts in machine learning, remote sensing and physical oceanography are pioneering the next generation of digital tools for studying the sea. We provide operational monitoring solutions without costly field operations - using AI to squeeze new discoveries from the streams of data in which the ocean hides its secrets. The world's oceans remain vastly undersampled, their dynamics often still mysterious. But by synthesizing smart algorithms, abundant datasets and a passion for discovery, eOdyn helps scientists and stakeholders alike find answers amid the waves of information surrounding us. The future of discovery is digital - and it's here.
