Owen Meyers has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries and roles. Owen began their career in 2005 as a Research Assistant at MIT Media Lab, where they focused on music, emotion, and interactive sound installations. From 2006 to 2007, they worked as a Software Developer at One Laptop Per Child, contributing to the development of network-based audio software and music games for children. Meyers then joined Universitat Pompeu Fabra as a Researcher and Technical Specialist, where they conducted research on state-of-the-art music information retrieval technologies and managed audio and metadata databases.
In 2010, Meyers transitioned to the private sector and worked as a Ruby on Rails Developer at Readmill, a community-based platform for book lovers. Owen also worked as a Consultant at TuneRights, the world's first online music copyright exchange. Meyers then moved into the video technology industry, holding roles at Videoplaza as an Integration Engineer and Professional Services Engineer, and at Ooyala as a Solutions Architect, specializing in video ad serving for premium broadcasters and publishers worldwide.
In 2017, Meyers joined Epidemic Sound, where they have held various positions including Music Editor, Analyst & Tech Lead, Data Scientist, and currently serves as the Analytics Lead. Outside of their professional roles, Meyers also founded Meyers Music in 2020, where they serve as the Owner.
Owen Meyers completed their education history as follows: from 2005 to 2007, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned an S.M. degree in Media Arts & Sciences. Prior to that, they attended McGill University from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a BMUS degree in Music Technology. Lastly, from 1990 to 2000, Owen studied at The Royal Conservatory of Music, focusing on Music Theory, Music History, and Piano Performance, and completed a Grade 10 Practical degree.
