Dirk Loeckx

Dirk Loeckx has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Dirk is currently serving as the Head of R&D & QARA at Hippo Diagnostics since August 2021. Before this, they co-founded epihunter in 2017 and held the position of Co-founder & CSO. Dirk was also a Board Member at MedTech Flanders from January 2015 until August 2022.

One of Dirk's notable experiences was at icometrix, where they co-founded the company in 2011 and served as a board member. Dirk played a key role in growing the company from 2 to 30 employees and successfully executing a 3-step strategy. Dirk also held the positions of CEO and COO at icometrix, contributing to its growth and success until July 2017.

Prior to icometrix, Dirk worked at KU Leuven, where they completed their PhD and served as a senior researcher. During their time there, they collaborated closely with doctors in the University Hospital and developed a service to remove bone artifacts from brain CT angiography scans, benefiting multiple patients daily. Their tenure at KU Leuven lasted from September 2001 to April 2011.

Dirk Loeckx has an extensive education history. Dirk started their academic journey in 1988 at Jan Van Ruusbroeckollege, where they studied Greek-Mathematics until 1995. Following this, they enrolled at KU Leuven and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Engineering from 1995 to 1997.

Loeckx continued their education at Ghent University from 1997 to 2001, where they pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Physical Engineering. Subsequently, they returned to KU Leuven in 2000 for a brief period of one year, focusing on Biomedical and Clinical Engineering and Medical Physics.

From 2001 to 2006, Loeckx undertook a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Biomedical Engineering at KU Leuven. Finally, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from 2007 to 2009 at Vlerick Business School, specializing in Executive MBA.
