Joshua Bloom

Senior Research Engineer at EpiSci

Joshua Bloom is a Senior Research Engineer at EpiSci, focusing on autonomy architecture for multi-agent maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems, collaborating closely with U.S. Navy partners. Currently pursuing a PhD in Robotics Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Joshua's research addresses challenges in multi-agent reinforcement learning, examining how robot failures and communication impact collective tasks. Previous experience includes working as an Autonomy Research Engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, developing multi-agent systems for naval defense, and as an Electrical Engineer at NAVAIR. Joshua has also contributed to the fire service as a certified volunteer firefighter and held various leadership and teaching roles during academic tenure, including involvement in fraternity and teaching assistantships. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Robotic Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.
