Megan McTiernan

Megan McTiernan is the current Director at Episcopal Community Services. Megan has over 20 years of experience in the field of education and community development. Megan has a passion for helping others and has spent their career working to improve access to education and career opportunities for disadvantaged youth.

Megan began their career as a Social Impact Advisor with McTiernan Strategies, a consulting firm that provides advice to philanthropists and non-profit organizations. In this role, they advised clients on how to achieve their social impact goals.

Megan then became the Career Services Manager at Treasure Island Job Corps Center, where they helped disadvantaged youth develop the skills they need to find employment. After three years in this role, Megan was promoted to School Linked Services Manager at the West Contra Costa Unified School District. In this position, they oversaw out-of-school time programs for 34 schools in the district. Megan was responsible for developing partnerships with city agencies, non-profit organizations, and school staff to provide activities and services to students. Megan also designed professional development programs for school staff that led to improved program delivery for students.

In 2007, Megan left their position at the school district to become the Executive Director of the Thomson Family Foundation, a private foundation that supports education and youth development initiatives. In this role, Megan managed the foundation’s grant-making process and developed strategies to increase the impact of the foundation’s philanthropic investments.

Megan McTiernan has a BA from Tulane University in Spanish and Latin American Studies and a Master's Degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
