Giorgio Lai

Scientist - Synthetic Biology | Enzyme Engineering at Epoch Biodesign

Giorgio Lai has a wide range of work experience. Giorgio began their career in 2008 as a lifeguard for the City Council. In 2015 they were a Teacher Assistant at Università degli Studi di Torino, a Research Intern at Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Piemonte, Liguria e Valle d'Aosta, a Board Member at Collegio Universitario di Torino Renato Einaudi, and a Co-Founder of the Collegio Einaudi Alumni Association. Giorgio was also a Research Intern at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in 2017 and a Doctoral Researcher at Newcastle University the same year. In 2021, they were a FEBS Summer Fellow at University of Lausanne - UNIL and they are currently a Scientist - enzyme engineering at Epoch Biodesign since 2022.

Giorgio Lai has a diverse educational background. Giorgio attended Liceo Classico from 2006 to 2011, where they earned their High School Diploma in Humanities/Humanistic Studies. Giorgio then attended Università degli Studi di Torino from 2011 to 2014, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology. Giorgio continued their studies at the same university, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Industrial Biotechnology in 2017. Giorgio also attended Collegio Universitario di Torino Renato Einaudi from 2011 to 2017. In 2021, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Synthetic Biology & Biochemistry from Newcastle University. Additionally, Giorgio has obtained several certifications, including a Boat Operator's License from Capitaneria di Porto di Imperia in 2016, a Lifeguard License from Società Nazionale di Salvamento in 2008, and an IELTS Academic - Grade 8.0 from University of Cambridge in 2017.
