David Gortler

David Gortler has extensive work experience in the field of drug safety, FDA regulatory affairs, and pharmacology. David is currently serving as a Drug Safety Expert and Co-Chair of the FDA/HHS Accountability Project at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Advisor to the FDA Commissioner at the FDA, where they led major initiatives related to drug safety and policy. David also served as the Chief Medical Officer at Valisure, a pharmaceutical company. Before Valisure, they worked as a Drug/Vaccine/Device Safety and Pharmacology Expert at FormerFDA.com, where they provided expert services in lawsuits and conducted complex consultations for investors, pharmaceutical companies, and attorneys. David's previous experience includes roles as a Ted Cruz 2016 Presidential Campaign FDA and Healthcare Policy Advisor at the United States Senate, an Associate Professor at Georgetown University, a Medical Officer/Senior Medical Analyst at the FDA, an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at Yale University, a Drug Safety Specialist at Merck, and an Investigational Medicine Research Scientist at Pfizer.

David Gortler completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale University from 1999 to 2002. During this time, they served as a Research Fellow in Vascular Medicine in the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine. Prior to that, from 1998 to 1999, they attended Columbia University where they pursued a General Practice Residency in clinical pharmacy. David Gortler earned their undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, specializing in Pharmacy & Clinical Pharmacology, from 1994 to 1998.
