Michael Montalto has extensive experience in the field of Hospital in the Home services. Michael started their career as the Unit Head of Hospital in the Home at Mornington Peninsula Hospital in 1994. In 2000, they became the Director of RMH Hospital in the Home at Royal Melbourne Hospital, where they played a key role in transforming the service into a medically intensive clinical unit. Montalto then worked as the Director of Hospital in the Home at Epworth Hospital from 2000 onwards, leading the private sector's Hospital in the Home services. In 2015, they became the Director of Mobile Radiology Australia, a national company that provides mobile radiology services to elderly or frail patients. Montalto has also been involved in various advisory and consulting roles, providing policy, development, and clinical operational advice for Hospital in the Home services. Additionally, they served as the Co-Convener of the World Hospital in the Home Congress and was a keynote speaker at the Inaugural Congress held in Spain in 2019 and the 2nd and 3rd World Congresses. Currently, they are a Hospital At Home International Fellow at Ariadne Labs, T.H. Chan Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Michael Montalto completed their PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1999. Michael also holds a degree in MBBS from the same university.
