Andy Duncan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Andy is currently serving as the Head of Engineering at Equal Experts, a position they started in March 2021. Prior to this, Andy worked at Tes for five years, from 2016 to 2021, as a Principal Engineer. In this role, they led a team of 8 engineering leaders and 50 engineers, focusing on building a culture of engineering excellence, organizational change management, and technical leadership. Andy also played a key role in the rewrite of the highest traffic page on the site, focusing on performance and regulatory compliance.

Before joining Tes, Andy worked at ThoughtWorks from 2010 to 2016, starting as a Principal Consultant and eventually being promoted to Calgary Office Principal and Head of Delivery Services. In this role, they were responsible for advising clients on organizational change, agile practices, and continuous delivery. Andy also played an influential role in the establishment of ThoughtWorks Africa.

Prior to their time at ThoughtWorks, Andy worked at Equal Experts as a Senior Developer, Coach, and Configuration Management Expert from 2008 to 2009. Andy implemented build-deploy-test pipelines for the application and database tiers, enabling reliable and regular deployments.

Andy's earlier work experience includes roles at Fundamental Software as a Development Manager from 2006 to 2008, where they introduced agile project management and development practices, and at WhiteWallWeb as a Consultant in 2006, where they introduced foundational software development practices.

Before this, Andy worked as a Consultant at ThoughtWorks from 2004 to 2006, as a Developer at Amplefuture Group from 2002 to 2004, as a Developer at The Lateral Alternative from 2000 to 2002, and as a Developer at Pyramid Business Consulting from 1999 to 2000.

Andy Duncan attended the University of Cape Town from 1994 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their degree focused on the subjects of English and Psychology.
