Jamila Hodge has extensive work experience in the criminal justice field. Jamila is currently the Executive Director at Equal Justice USA, where they aim to establish the organization as a leader in building violence solutions outside of the criminal legal system. Prior to this, they worked as the Program Director for Reshaping Prosecution at the Vera Institute of Justice, where they focused on policy and practice reforms to end mass incarceration and reduce racial disparities. Jamila also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for 12 years and handled all aspects of criminal prosecution. Jamila has held advisory and counsel roles at the White House, Office of the Vice President, and the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Policy. Earlier in their career, they worked as an associate at Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky.
Jamila Hodge received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Michigan in 1998. Jamila later pursued their Juris Doctor degree at Duke University School of Law, completing it in 2001.
