Paul Brownell currently serves as the Public Policy Director at Equinix, overseeing government affairs and public policy for a leading global colocation and interconnection company since February 2017. Prior to this role, Paul held positions at Red Hat, including Head of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs and EMEA Public Policy Director, advocating on key US federal and global issues from June 2012 to January 2017. As an independent consultant in Geneva from January 2011 to June 2012, Paul specialized in government affairs. Earlier experience includes directing Federal Government Affairs at Dell Inc. (2002-2011), leading the National Venture Capital Association's government affairs as Vice President (1999-2002), and managing trade regulation policy for AeA (1998-1999). Paul began a career in public policy as a Legislative Assistant for the Wisconsin State Legislature (1989-1991). Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
