José André de Castro Alves

José André de Castro Alves has a extensive work experience in the mining industry. José André is currently serving as the Vice President of Technical Services at Equinox Gold Corp. Prior to this role, they held the position of Technical Services Director at Kinross Brasil Mineração from June 2020 to July 2022. Before that, they worked as the Technical & Projects Director at CMOC International Brasil from December 2018 to June 2020. José André also had experience as a private consultant from April 2016 to November 2018. José André served as the Mining VP at Magnesita from January 2014 to March 2016, overseeing various mining operations and metallurgical operations. From July 2012 to January 2014, they served as the Iron Ore Division Director at B&A Mineração, where they were responsible for evaluating business opportunities and overseeing exploration and operations. Prior to that, they held various roles at Vale, including General Manager Geology, Mine and Economic Evaluation - Simandou Project, Iron Ore Business Evaluation Manager, and Iron Ore Technical Coordinator. José André also had roles at Anglo American and GEMCOM earlier in their career.

José André de Castro Alves completed their Master's degree in Structural Geology and Geostatistics from UFOP - Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto between 1988 and 1991. José André also pursued an MBA in Project Management at Fundação Dom Cabral for the academic year 2006-2007. Additionally, they obtained a Specialist degree in Economic Engineering from Fundação Dom Cabral in 1994-1995.
