Elena Waskey

Elena Waskey is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in directing communications and marketing strategies across various sectors. Currently serving as Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth since May 2019, Elena is responsible for enhancing the organization's brand and positioning its leadership as thought leaders on economic inequality. Previously, as Director at Crosscut Strategies, LLC, Elena developed comprehensive communications strategies for diverse clients. At the National Governors Association, Elena held roles ranging from Associate Director of Communications to Press Secretary, where Elena managed media relations and communications strategies. Earlier in the career, Elena contributed to USA TODAY and USA WEEKEND Magazine, focusing on editorial management and fact-checking. Elena holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
