Karla Schaefer

Karla Schaefer, CEBS, is an experienced professional in employee benefits management, currently serving as the Director of Employee Benefits at Equity Residential since January 2019. In this role, Karla develops and leads strategic projects for the national Benefits Team, overseeing health and welfare, retirement, and wellbeing plan administration and compliance. Prior to this, Karla held various positions at bswift and Aon Hewitt, where responsibilities included managing client relationships, ensuring operational efficiency, and enhancing client satisfaction. Karla began their career at Hewitt Associates, serving as a Benefits Analyst and Project Manager. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French from Illinois Wesleyan University and additional studies at Nantes Université.
