Ping Yan has extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as Manager of Transmission Planning Assessment at ERCOT since January 2015, following roles as Supervisor and Senior Planning Engineer, focusing on independent reviews of large transmission projects and generation interconnection studies. Prior to ERCOT, Ping Yan worked at Ventyx (formerly New Energy Associates) from September 2003 to January 2015 as an Advisory Software Developer, specializing in software development and client support for PROMOD IV, a production cost modeling tool. Early career experience includes an internship at ABB, where Ping Yan developed the Current Operation Plan for the Energy Management System. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University.
