Michael O'Brien, MD, FACEP, FAEMS, FAMPA, FAOM, NRP, currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBMD Emergency Medicine and holds multiple leadership roles including President Elect at the Air Medical Physician Association Inc. and Medical Director for the Town of Tonawanda Police Department Emergency Medical Unit. O'Brien is also the Associate System Medical Director at Mercy Flight Inc. and an Attending Physician at Erie County Medical Center Corporation. As part of their academic contributions, O'Brien is an Associate Editor for the global Emergency Medicine wiki, WikEM, and serves as Adjunct Faculty for the UMBC Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program. Previous positions include Medical Director of Quality & Education at Mercy Flight of Western New York, Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center, and various roles within the National Disaster Medical System. O'Brien earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and holds a Master of Arts in Criminology, Law, and Justice, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
