Joe Vahey has an extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Joe Vahey started their career in the US Army as a White House Special Assistance Operator from 1983 to 1986. Joe Vahey then worked as an External Auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1989 to 1990. Following this, they joined Voluntary Hospitals of America as an Assistant Controller from 1990 to 1991.

Joe Vahey's longest tenure was with Erie Insurance Group, where they held various leadership roles. Joe Vahey served as VP & Allentown Branch Manager from 2009 to 2010, Asst. VP & Illinois Branch Manager from 2007 to 2009, and Internal Auditor, District Sales Manager, and Asst. VP & Wisconsin Branch Manager from 1991 to 2007. Joe Vahey later became VP & Personal Lines Product Manager from 2010 to 2017. Currently, they hold the position of VP, Regional Claims Officer, where they manage claim service to West Region customers and agents at Erie Insurance Group. Throughout their career, Joe has demonstrated their ability to learn and innovate using their diverse professional and personal background.

Joe Vahey has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Penn State University, which they obtained from 1986 to 1989. Joe Vahey also holds a Master of Science degree in Insurance Management from Boston University, which they earned from 2020 to 2021. In addition, they have obtained a certification in Master of Science - Insurance Management from Boston University in 2022.
