Jennifer Vessels

Jennifer Vessels, JD, CHC, CHPC has had a diverse work experience. Jennifer is currently the Director of Compliance and Privacy Services at Erlanger Health System, where they assist the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer in managing the compliance program. Their responsibilities include overseeing privacy-related investigations, developing guidelines and best practices, reviewing departmental policies, and managing privacy and compliance projects. Jennifer also conducts training and awareness programs and stays updated on compliance and privacy laws and regulations.

Prior to their current role, Jennifer worked as a Senior Compliance and Privacy Program Analyst at Erlanger Health System and as a Legal Support Program Manager and Counsel at Data Federal. Their roles at Data Federal involved managing contracts providing legal and litigation support to Federal customers, recruiting and developing project staff, supervising and evaluating staff, and providing advice and reporting to executive leadership and customers. Jennifer also worked as a Project Manager at Data Federal, overseeing project operations, coordinating staff, managing deadlines, and providing end-user training.

Earlier in their career, Jennifer worked as a Staff Attorney, providing litigation support and analyzing briefs and pleadings in complex employment-related litigation. Jennifer also served as a Contract Attorney at Law Resources, a Senior Immigration Attorney at the Immigrant Legal Clinic, Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and a Staff Attorney at the HIV Law Project.

Jennifer Vessels, JD, CHC, CHPC, holds a Juris Doctor degree in Law from The George Washington University Law School, which they obtained from 1999 to 2002. Jennifer also completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 1995 to 1998. In addition to their education, they have obtained certifications, including being Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) from the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) in 2021 and 2019, respectively. Jennifer holds the PMP certification from the Project Management Institute obtained in 2018. Lastly, they are a member of the New York State Bar and the Tennessee State Bar.
