David W. Potashnik

David W. Potashnik is a Patent Attorney who earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from the University of Notre Dame. He received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, with a Certificate in Intellectual Property from the University of Akron in 2006. While attending law school, Dave worked as a full-time patent agent and prepared and prosecuted more than 100 patent applications in a variety of technology disciplines. He also has experience in legal opinion work. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Dave worked as an electrical engineer in Tempe, Arizona with a division of Motorola Labs designing hardware and software platforms. He was also a research fellow at the University of Notre Dame, where his research was focused primarily in device physics, semiconductor fabrication, and microprocessor design. Dave is the author of numerous publications and is knowledgeable in many high-tech fields, including: ASIC design, memory design, communication systems, microprocessor design, network protocol analysis, computer and network security, software development, and device physics and fabrication techniques.

Dave was registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2005, and registered to practice in Ohio in 2006. While attending law school at the University of Akron he was a contributing editor of the law review, the President of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Association, and recognized for his outstanding achievement in the areas of Copyright Law, Property Law, and Advanced Patent Prosecution. He also received a bachelor of science in physics and a minor in chemistry from Ohio Northern University in 1999, graduating with honors.

His professional memberships include the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the American Bar Association, the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA), and the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE).
