Luis A. Rankins-Ibarra

Luis was raised in an immigrant family and have experienced first-hand the challenges of growing up as an English language learner. Education has always been important to his family, and Luis is a proud graduate of the public school system. Discovering his passion for education early and knowing Luis wanted to be a teacher, he enrolled at CSU San Bernardino to earn his bachelor’s degree and teaching credential.

Luis also holds a master’s degree in Education Administration from Azusa Pacific University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of San Diego and CSU San Marcos.

Luis was honored to become the Superintendent of the Escondido Union School District on July 1, 2014. Luis has been a teacher, a K-6 elementary principal, and an Associate Superintendent of both Business Services and Human Resources, and have worked in Oceanside, Victor Valley, and Rialto school districts before joining EUSD.
