John Miles has a solid work history, with diverse experience in the field of IT. John started their career as a Help Desk Analyst at Manulife Financial in 1998. From there, they moved on to various roles at different companies, including IBM Canada Ltd., where they worked as a System Administrator specializing in systems management, automation, and deployment. John also worked at eSentire Inc. as a System Administrator for field intrusion detection and managed network services nodes.

In 2014, John joined Net Direct Inc. as a Linux Technical Consultant, where they supported a wide range of organizations in various industries, providing Linux solution delivery and support. John performed help desk duties, implemented and supported on-site projects, and provided design, architecture, and technology guidance utilizing Linux at its core.

Following their role at Net Direct Inc., John worked at Descartes Systems Group as a Linux System Engineer. John was responsible for managing Linux systems and providing support. Subsequently, they joined Kilton Inc. as a Linux System Administrator, where they focused on Linux administration.

Currently, John is employed at eSentire as a Senior System Administrator. John started in August 2022 and has not yet left the position. Prior to this role, they worked at eSentire as a Senior Support Center Analyst.

Throughout their career, John has gained extensive experience in Linux administration, system management, hardware and software support, scripting, security, and performance optimization. John possesses strong analytical and reporting skills, as well as experience in executing and managing IT infrastructure projects.

John Miles completed their undergraduate degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University between 1994 and 1996. John obtained additional certifications including the Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in March 2022, the CompTIA Security+ ce Certification from CompTIA in May 2020, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in April 2020, the LFCS: Linux Foundation Certified Systems Administrator from The Linux Foundation in February 2016, the VMware Certified Associate - Data Center Virtualization from VMware in January 2015, and the Red Hat Certified System Administrator from Red Hat in May 2014.
