Kaisa Makkonen

Kaisa Makkonen has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Kaisa has served as a Chief Officer at ESL Shipping Ltd since 2022, where they are responsible for stowage planning, stability calculations, and cargo operations. Prior to that, they worked at RABN - Rederi Ab Nathalie from 2018 to 2022, where they served as a Chief Officer and 2nd officer, handling various responsibilities including stowage planning, stability calculations, and deck maintenance. Kaisa also worked as an Ordinary Seaman at OSM Maritime Group and Eckerö Line in 2018. Kaisa has previously worked at Vip Cruise and Saimaan laivamatkat oy as a Master, Deckhand, and waitress. Kaisa'sskills include deck maintenance, cargo operations, and navigation equipment handling.

Kaisa Makkonen began their education in 2014 at the South Kymenlaakso Vocational College, where they pursued a degree in Maritime Studies. Kaisa completed this program in 2017. Following this, they attended Xamk - South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences from 2017 to 2021, where they obtained a Bachelor of Maritime Management degree in the field of study of Maritime Studies.

In addition to their formal education, Kaisa Makkonen has obtained various certifications. In July 2017, they obtained an Inland skipper's certificate. In July 2018, they received a certification for Watchkeeping rating deck/engine STCW II/4 and III/4. In July 2019, they obtained a certification for Deck officer STCW II/1. Kaisa'smost recent certification, Chief officer STCW II/2, was obtained in June 2022. Lastly, in January 2017, they completed the Basic training for oil and chemical tankers STCW V/1-1.2.
