Senior Advisor To The Chief Economist at ESM - European Stability Mechanism

Wim Van Aken currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Chief Economist and Senior Advisor to the Managing Director at the European Stability Mechanism, roles held since 2014, with previous positions including Senior Corporate Governance Officer and Advisor to the Managing Director. Prior experience includes tenure as a Senior Researcher at KU Leuven and Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Liège. Wim Van Aken's career also features roles as an Economist at the European Central Bank and as a Research Assistant at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies and to former Prime Minister Wim Kok. Earlier positions include Economist/Junior Counsellour at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and an internship at the European Commission.
