Alejandra Cruz is an experienced professional with a strong background in immigrant rights, academic support, and community engagement. Currently serving as a Call Counselor and Administrative Assistant for the Released Youth Program at the Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, Alejandra previously interned at Centro Integrado de Atención al Migrante (CIAMI), where significant contributions included assisting with immigration documentation and conducting impactful interviews. At the University of California San Diego, Alejandra held multiple roles, including Academic Transition Counselor, where mentoring and resource guidance were key responsibilities, and Resident Advisor, focusing on creating inclusive environments for diverse student populations. Alejandra holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Sociology, complemented by a minor in Spanish Literature from UC San Diego, and has furthered education at Universidad de Chile.

Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project
Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., is a non-profit law firm which provides community education and legal representation to Southern California’s most vulnerable immigrant communities. Esperanza provides legal representation to immigrants who are in detention and/or removal proceedings, and focuses on particularly complex immigration cases which may involve unaccompanied minors, adults with mental health issues, and cases with past criminal or gang history. Esperanza also provides community education programming and pro se assistance to immigrants in removal proceedings both in detained and non-detained settings. Esperanza has proudly provided legal services to immigrants and their families in Los Angeles for over 15 years.
