Melissa Burns

Melissa Burns has a diverse work experience in the field of esports and education. Melissa is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Esport Canada since January 2020. In addition, they are the Chair of the Manitoba School Esports Association, starting from July 2022.

Prior to these positions, Melissa worked as an instructional support at the Louis Riel School Division starting from September 2016. Melissa also served as a mentor at the Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations from September 2022 to January 2023.

Furthermore, Melissa has experience as a fellow at the Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations from September 2021 to June 2022. Melissa founded and served as the President of Middle Years Esport Manitoba from September 2019 to June 2022. Additionally, they founded and was the President of the Canadian Middle School Esport Association from January 2020 to October 2021.

Melissa Burns completed their Bachelor of Music degree at Canadian Mennonite University from 2005 to 2009. Melissa then pursued a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education and Teaching at the University of Manitoba from 2009 to 2011. Melissa also obtained a certification as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert from Microsoft in 2020.
