Dermot O'Kane

Dermot O'Kane has over 15 years of experience in the GIS industry. Dermot started at Ascon in 2001, working as part of the accounts team. In 2003, they joined ESRI Ireland as a GIS Consultant, working directly with customers on various projects. Dermot then served as the Training Manager, responsible for scheduling and delivering training courses. In 2009, they became a Client Manager at ESRI Ireland, where they worked with existing customers and acquired new ones. Currently, Dermot is the Head of Sales at Esri Ireland, leading the sales team and helping customers gain a competitive advantage using the ArcGIS platform. Additionally, they had a brief term at Sutherland Shire Council in Australia as a GIS Officer, where they helped manage the council's public street lighting project.

Dermot O'Kane has a comprehensive education background. In 1996, they obtained their Leaving Certificate from Carndonagh Community School. Later, they pursued a BA (Hons) in Business Study from Teesside University between 1996 and 2000. In 2002-2003, Dermot enrolled at Ulster University to pursue an MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Dermot then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in SalesWise - Sales Management at Technological University Dublin from 2008 to 2009. Most recently, in 2022-2023, Dermot attended the Irish Management Institute to earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.
