Muraleekrishnan Menon

Chief Operating Officer at ESS Engineering Software Steyr

Muraleekrishnan Menon has a long and varied work experience. Muraleekrishnan began their career in 2009 as a Senior System Engineer at Infosys, where they developed and evaluated software solutions in data analytics for banking clients. In 2013, they joined Michigan Technological University as a Graduate School Finishing Fellow, where they evaluated the effective use of trailing-edge flaps for active dynamic load-control on benchmark wind turbines, based on the power required for control actions. Muraleekrishnan also prepared manuscripts for publishing research outcomes in leading renewable energy journals, and presented some of these outcomes at technical conferences. In the same year, they also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, where they instructed and conducted laboratory for second-year undergraduate students in mechanical engineering practices, and guided students to write effective technical reports on the outcomes. Additionally, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they performed extensive numerical aeroelastic analysis of utility-scale benchmark wind turbines with a focus on innovative load-control techniques. Muraleekrishnan also served as a Teaching Assistant and Coach at the Engineering Learning Center. In 2017, they joined Michigan Technological University as a Research Associate, where they evaluated the use of flow-control devices such as trailing-edge flaps in optimized dynamic load-control for benchmark wind turbines, and guided doctoral students in the Wind Research group on performing aeroelastic analysis. Finally, in 2018, they joined ESS - Engineering Software Steyr as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Researcher.

Muraleekrishnan Menon obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore in 2008. Muraleekrishnan then continued their education at Michigan Technological University, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering in 2017.
