Prateek Garg has over 19 years of experience in the power industry, currently serving as Vice President of Strategy and Commercial at Essar Power since April 2020, after holding various strategic leadership roles within the company since June 2008. In this capacity, Prateek is involved in high-level decision-making related to business strategy, commercial issues, mergers and acquisitions, and feasibility analyses. Prior to joining Essar Power, Prateek worked as an Engineer Operations at NTPC from January 2004 to April 2006, where responsibilities included operating a 500 MW power generating unit and developing emergency procedures. Prateek holds a PGDM in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.
Essar Power
Essar Power is one of India’s first private sector independent power producer having a successful track record of 25+ years. It has a power generating capacity of 2070 MW across four plants in India and Canada. Essar is also foraying into renewable energy starting with a plan to set up a 90 MWp PV Solar power plant in Dhatia, Madhya Pradesh. Essar Power has also invested in the transmission business and constructed a 465-km interstate transmission system which spans across three Indian states.
