Michael Garcia

Michael Garcia serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Algoma Steel Inc., a leader in the North American steel industry, since June 2022. Additionally, Michael holds the position of Board Member and Chair of the Operations Committee at Alliant Energy since January 2020 and previously served as a Board Member for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond from 2017 to 2021. Michael was the President of Domtar’s Pulp and Paper Division from May 2014 until January 2021, contributing to the company’s status as a top producer of uncoated freesheet paper. Past roles include CEO at Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium and various leadership positions at major companies such as Alcoa and Gerdau. Michael's education includes an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
