Jill DeTemple is an experienced academic currently serving as a Professor and Chair of Religious Studies at Southern Methodist University since August 2005, having previously held the position of Assistant Professor in the same department. Additionally, Jill DeTemple has been an Academic Associate at Essential Partners since January 2018. Academic qualifications include a Master of Theological Studies in Christianity and Culture from Harvard Divinity School, completed between 1997 and 1999, and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and Religion from Bowdoin College, obtained from 1989 to 1993. Further education includes a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where studies were carried out from 1999 to 2005.
