At ERO, we offer a comprehensive suite of services designed to help fiduciaries and participants achieve their retirement goals through innovative and effective strategies.

The Essential Returns Objective (ERO) framework established by Frank Sortino’s methodology redefines portfolio construction and management through an overhaul of its constructs. It challenges Modern Portfolio Theory's mean-variance approach by emphasizing downside deviation, upside potential, and ERO-Alpha for more precise risk assessment. Additionally, it utilizes adaptive internal rate of return (IRR) calculations to reassess the participant’s goal and applies style-pure indices and bootstrapping to robustly assess manager performance. Together, these measures aim to deliver consistently superior outcomes.

Our services include:
1. Collaboration with Current Plan Advisors
❖ Target Rate Funds Construction:
We work closely with your current plan advisors to construct Target Rate Funds using your existing lineup of investment options. Our approach ensures allocations are tailored to the specific needs of participants, and periodically optimized ensuring expected returns meet future liabilities.
2. Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) Services
❖ Plan Asset Management:
Acting as an OCIO, ERO provides expert management of your plan assets. We utilize our advanced forecasting technology and academic insights to navigate complex markets, ensuring your plan is aligned with both fiduciary standards and participants' retirement goals.
3. Hybrid Defined Benefit Plan Creation
❖ Plan Transformation:
We can assist in transforming your current defined contribution plan into a hybrid defined benefit plan. This hybrid approach aims to combine the flexibility and participant control of a defined contribution plan with some of the structured benefits of a defined benefit plan.

Essential Returns Objective (ERO) was founded as Sortino Investment Advisors in 2007.
