John Edgar

John Edgar is an experienced educational leader with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as the Headteacher of the Virtual School at Essex County Council since October 2021, John previously worked as an Education Consultant at EDMA Education Consultancy Ltd from December 2015 to October 2021, where responsibilities included leading PGCE mentoring and assessing for the National Quality Mark. Earlier roles included teaching and leading in various capacities at The Deanes School from 1994 to 2015, such as Head of School and Director of Student Services. John's career began at Saintbridge School, followed by a role as Humanities Coordinator at The Leigh CTC, and an Area Manager position at HarperCollins Publishers. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in School Improvement from the University of Cambridge, NPQH from the University of London, PQSI in School Inspection from Middlesex University, and a Bachelor of Education in History from St. Paul & St. Mary's College.
