John Vard

Data Science Lead at ESW

John Vard has a diverse work experience in data science, analytics, and engineering roles. John began their career as a Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, where they developed computational models and conducted experiments to optimize the design of a medical product. John then worked as an R&D Engineer at NUI Galway, where they performed computational analysis for the design of an award-winning medical device. As a Principal Engineer at ArraVasc Ltd, John utilized statistical methods for process optimization and developed theoretical models to streamline product development. John later worked as a Technology Consultant at University College Dublin, where they performed proof-of-concept projects and provided commercial assessments for early-stage medical device concepts. At Accenture, John served as an Analytics and Modeling Associate Manager, implementing statistical algorithms for expense claim anomaly detection. Currently, they serve as the Lead Data Scientist at ESW, where they propose and implements analytical solutions to deliver business value and contributes to the data strategy and culture of the organization.

John Vard has a strong education background in data analytics and mechanical engineering. John obtained their MSc in Data Analytics from University College Dublin from 2015 to 2018. Prior to this, they completed an MSc by Research at Trinity College Dublin from 2002 to 2004. John also holds a BA and BAI in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, which they obtained from 1996 to 2000.

In addition to their formal education, John Vard has also obtained several certifications. John became a Certified SAFe® 5 Practitioner through Scaled Agile, Inc. in February 2020. John also completed a Machine Learning course from Coursera in September 2014 and obtained a Project Management Certificate from Open University Business School (OUBS) in October 2008.
