Patrick Nickel has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Patrick currently works at ETAS as a Lead Solution Architect, a position they have held since November 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Gruppenleiter Produktentwicklung Verbindungstechnik at Bosch Rexroth from July 2015 to November 2019. From June 2011 to July 2015, they worked at Robert Bosch as an Entwicklungsingenieur Kommunikationstechnik. Patrick also gained experience as a Projektmanager Leittechnik at Areva NP from September 2009 to May 2011. Additionally, they have a background in academia, having completed a Ph.D. Thesis at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg from 2002 to 2008 and a Diploma Thesis at Rohde & Schwarz from April 2002 to August 2002. Patrick also worked as an Intern at Siemens in 2001.

Patrick Nickel earned a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Elektrotechnik from Technische Universität Darmstadt from 1997 to 2002. Patrick then pursued a Dr.-Ing. degree in Nachrichtentechnik from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg from 2002 to 2008. In 2008, they attended Collège des Ingénieurs to obtain an MBA specializing in Management, Value Creation, Innovation to Market, Entrepreneurship, and Learning-through-action, which they completed in 2009. Additionally, Patrick has obtained several certifications including Certified SAFe® 5 Architect from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2022, Deep Learning Specialization, IBM Data Science Specialization, and Self-Driving Cars Specialization from Coursera in 2020, and the PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)® from the Project Management Institute in 2018.
