Martín Blasco

Chief Scientific Officer at Eternal Mycofoods at Eternal

Martín Blasco has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Martín is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at Eternal Mycofoods, where they oversee the production of innovative food products using fungal biomass. Martín is also associated with Kernel Deltech, a branch of Eternal involved in the Deep Space Food Challenge.

Before joining Eternal, Martín worked as a Professor and Associate Professor at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín, where they taught and conducted research in the field of biotechnology. Martín also held research positions at CONICET, where they focused on developing protein expression platforms using filamentous fungi.

In addition, Martín served as the Bioprocess Department Manager and Scientific Researcher at INTI, where they managed the bioprocess department and conducted scientific research. Martín also worked as a Professor at the Universidad Nacional del Chaco Austral and an Invited Professor at CABBIO INTENSO COURSE at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes.

Early in their career, Martín served as a Biotechnological Advisor at the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI), where they played a key role in starting the R&D facility for industrial fermentation. Martín also served as the CSO of Bioimanay, a position in which they contributed to the company's strategic direction.

Martín's work experience also includes a role as a Teaching Assistant at UNSAM, where they assisted with teaching responsibilities. Additionally, they worked as a Guest Researcher at Jacobs University Bremen, focusing on the production and purification development of fungal industrial food enzymes as part of the PGSYS project.

Martín Blasco obtained their first certification as a Chemistry Technician from Instituto Cultural Educacional Don Zeno in 1996. Martín then pursued a degree in Chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires from 1996 to 1998. Following that, they attended Universidad Nacional de San Martín from 1997 to 2004, where they completed their B.S. and M.S. in Biotechnology. In 2007, Martín participated in the Entrepreneurs program EMPREAR - ITBA at Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires. Martín furthered their education by earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Universidad Nacional de San Martín between 2004 and 2010. Afterward, Martín attended Constructor University in 2013 to pursue a Postdoc degree in the field of Biotechnology of fungi. In addition to their formal education, Martín obtained a certification in Fundamentals of Pharmacology from Coursera in September 2012.
