Shubhayu S. has a strong background in space exploration and engineering, having worked at various organizations within this field since 2011. At the ISRO Satellite Centre, they completed an engineering internship in 2011 and then proceeded to work on a Bachelor's project, designing and analyzing interplanetary Earth to Mars trajectories for the Mars Orbiter Mission in 2012. Shubhayu then worked as a Scientist/Engineer - Team Lead at the Satish Dhawan Space Center, where they oversaw the successful assembly, integration, and testing of zero-defect aerospace systems for various satellite launches, including the Mars Orbiter Mission and the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. From 2018 to 2022, at the Human Space Flight Centre, they worked as a Scientist/Engineer - Techno Manager / Systems Design Lead, playing a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and developing astronaut Life Support Systems for India's first human spaceflight mission project, Gaganyaan. Shubhayu most recently founded the company EtherealX, where they hold the roles of Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer.

Shubhayu S. completed their primary education at Delhi Public School and Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya between 1996-2003. Shubhayu continued their education at Sri Chaitanya College of Education from 2006-2008, where they completed their Higher Secondary School and gained expertise in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (MPC), with a minor in Informatics Practices (IP). Shubhayu S. pursued a Bachelor of Technology - BTech in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology from 2008-2012. Shubhayu also obtained Verified International Academic Qualifications from the World Education Services in March 2020.
